Gastrointestinal: less cancer, thanks to ACE

In the leading journal "Annals of Oncology" appeared the largest and most comprehensive analysis of the link between acetylsalicylic acid (Asa) and cancer of the digestive tract. In it, scientists describe that taking ACE, a rare cancer of the digestive organs occurs, including the very dangerous types of cancer such as pancreatic and liver cancer.

In a total of 113 observational studies, the risk for cancers of the digestive organs was reduced between 22 and 39 percent – with regular use of at least one or two tablets ACE per week. In addition to colorectal cancer, also cancer of the head and neck, esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and due to were investigated. With the exception of head and neck cancer, all cancer, a reduced risk of revenue forms observed by ACE.

It showed that the dose had an influence on the risk of cancer: compared to the no ACE revenue was reduced in 75 to 100 milligrams of SPERM per day to ten per cent and 325 milligrams daily to 35 percent. The long-term revenue seemed to be also a positive effect: After a year the risk to four, after three years of eleven, after five years, to 19, and after ten years, to 29 per cent decrease was.

The study leader Professor Carlo La Vecchia from the Medical faculty of the University of Milan said: "In the EU are forecast for 2020, there are around 175,000 deaths from bowel cancer, of which about 100,000 persons between 50 and 74 years. If the regular use of aspirin in this age group staircase from 25 to 50 percent, could be avoided 5,000 to 7,000 deaths from colorectal cancer and 12,000 to 18,000 new cases."

ACE but should only be taken after consulting a doctor regularly, because it is not free of side effects. Especially the risk of stomach bleeding increases with higher doses.
